Stockholm defends ‘gender-equal’ snow-clearing (2016)

Stockholm defends ‘gender-equal’ snow-clearing.

Posted somewhat ‘tongue-in-cheek’, but this is a good real-world example of ideology colliding head-on with reality and coming off second best.

Stockholm’s municipal government adopted a policy of clearing pavements of snow in preference to roads. This was done in the name of gender equality, as women are statistically more likely to use the pavements than the roads.

Let’s leave aside the fact that the aim of gender equality here is a marvellous piece of doublethink.

The policy had predictable results as soon as the heavy snow arrived, and Stockholm plunged into chaos without the use of its roads.

I suppose the lesson here is never to accuse feminists of lacking a sense of humour!

Important Steps Toward Restoring Balance in the Gender Debate – Quillette

At the NHS and BBC, Important Steps Toward Restoring Balance in the Gender Debate.

A Quillette article suggesting the tide may be turning in the trans debate, with more and more ‘civilians’ being drawn into the culture war raging around their ears.

The focus is initially on J.K. Rowling’s hapless tweets about “individuals with a cervix”, and how the astonishing backlash she received has woken people up to the danger posed by gender extremists.

The article then moves on to describe how the NHS and the BBC have both edited their online guidance to exclude the extremist group Mermaids as points of reference.

Archive evidence is also provided showing that the NHS’ guidance has been edited to ensure adherence to the science. The ideological and emotive elements have now been left out, as they should have been in the first place!

Jonathan Pie on the “Gender Pay Gap”

Jonathan Pie isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (or mine to be truthful), but this satirical video does a good job of pointing out some of the logical fallacies and double standards that litter the gender pay debate.

And of course congratulations to JP for creating a video in which he manages to restrain himself from shouting for seven whole minutes!

Women in their 20s earn more than men of same age

Guardian article discussing the study.

If someone complains to you about the “gender pay gap”, refer them to this 2015 study. It shows that women under the age of thirty earn more than their male counterparts.

I was surprised by just how few of the self-proclaimed feminists among my peers were aware of this fact.

The study invalidates the idea that women on average earn less than men over the course of their careers because companies are sexist… a central claim of modern feminism.

This bombshell should be obvious to anyone keeping a stray eye on reality whilst the madness unfolds. Nevertheless, the so-called “gender pay gap” has been one of the more bitterly pursued grievances by feminists in recent years.

Their efforts even culminated in the UK government forcing larger firms to publish crude gross pay figures by sex. A state-backed invitation to draw disingenuous conclusions from context-free data. Incredible really.
